"Another World" on Plum Island, Massachusetts
Fabulous ocean-view, three-level year-round home just minutes from downtown Newburyport, ideal for a winter retreat or a summer vacation. The main level features wrap-around decks, open living room with sunken level, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a well equipped kitchen, gas fireplace, and entertainment center.
The top floor consists of three bedrooms and a full bath. Each bedroom has ocean views and the Master (Captain's Quarters) bedroom also overlooks the Basin and has its own private deck with fabulous sunset views. Waking up in the front room, with the sun climbing out of the sea, is a breathtaking way to start the day. It is furnished with a twin bed and full futon. The third bedroom has a twin bed and a fold-out bed for a child. Each bedroom is furnished with antique oak dressers, quilts, and appropriate artwork.
The lower level includes spill-over space for an extra bed, a 3/4 bath, laundry room and garage. Outdoor grilling and shady entertaining are available on this level, which also has a wrap-around deck. A flagstone walk leads around the house past the garden shed, lilac hedge, pine and spruce grove, and fragrant rose bushes.
Dune grass and salt air invigorate the senses, and the beach is just across Northern Blvd. A boat ramp to the Basin is close by on 20th Street. Birding is great, with the Parker River Wildlife Refuge an easy bike ride away. Walk to dinner at Mad Martha's Cafe' (right next door, and with a great breakfast menu), the Plum Island Grill or Jeanne's. Many of our guests return year after year, and everyone enjoys the time they spend at "Another World."
